Earth 3d – Real-time 3D view of Earth

Earth3D is a program that visualizes the earth in a 3D view. It is look likes Google Earth but has some special features like the real-time view of formation of clouds over the earth (updated every 3 hours), showing current earthquake positions, explore the difference in depth of the ocean waters etc; all makes it suitable for certain uses like meteorological or educational purposes.Earth 3D uses data from NASA, USGS, the CIA and the city of Osnabrück and some of the data received in real-time.

The program's features are - Viewing the earth as a whole, Zooming in until countries, cities and even single houses become visible (currently limited to the city of Osnabrück, Germany), and Embedding external data like current earthquake positions or cloud data.

The program is available as binary for Linux, MacOS X and Windows under the GPL license. You required installing Java runtime (1.4 or higher) on your computer to work it properly.

The application for Windows weigh only 2.3Mb and no installation is required. Just unzip the app and run the Earth3D exe. And most importantly, a broadband connection is required to operate it smoothly.
