Tweak Windows XP for navigating faster

To do this, right click on My Computer and then click on Properties. A new window will pop up, click on the Advanced tab. Under the “Performance” section click on the Settings button.

Another window will pop up. Under “Visual Effects” select the radio button, which says “Best Performance”. Now in the box below, Scroll right to the bottom. Check the box, which says “Use visual style on windows and buttons” (note that all other check boxes will be unchecked, let them be that way). When you check the box you will observe the radio button for “custom” will get elected, that’s normal. Click on “Apply” and then on “OK”. Navigating through the folders will be much faster now.
